Loblolly Pine Seedlings Forestry Lifting And Packaging

Fall Nursery Pine Seedling Harvesting: Lifting and Packaging

Fall starts what we often call our “silly season” at the nurseries, generally at the end of November through mid-February, when we begin the time sensitive task of getting ArborGen Seedlings out of the ground and to our customers as quickly and in the best way as possible

Best Timing: Pine Seedling Tree Harvesting

We set February 15 every year as our target date to have all of the trees out of the ground. After that date, the days start getting a little longer and it starts warming up. The trees will start breaking dormancy toward the end of February. To get the entire crop lifted we have to lift an average of 1.5 million seedlings a day. With a good forestry crew and good conditions, we can lift 1.5 million in an 8-10 hour day. Watch the seedling lifting videos below to see just how it’s done!
