Sr. Accountant – Ridgeville, SC

The primary responsibilities of the Sr Accountant are to assist in daily management of the general accounting function, including financial reporting and analysis, month-end close, consolidated financial reports, balance sheet reconciliation, cost accounting and maintenance of fixed assets. This position will play a key role in the annual audit process.

  • Participate in month end close especially in regard to inventory.
  • Prepare monthly consolidated financial reports of US and foreign operations.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Maintain fixed assets.
  • Key role in annual audit.
  • Cost accounting: Develop and monitor standard costing of our multiple products.

  • BS in accounting or finance.

  • Experience with a medium to large company ERP, SAP B1 strongly preferred.

Orchard Specialist – Nacogdoches, TX

The primary responsibilities of the Orchard Specialist are to perform the day to day tasks and duties required for an efficient pine seed production operation.  The position is heavily weighted toward operating heavy equipment and performing manual tasks, both skilled and unskilled, involved in producing open-pollinated (OP) and mass control pollinated (MCP) seed, including but not limited to seed orchard ground maintenance and tree care, cone harvesting, seed processing/storage, research and MCP breeding and pollen collection activities, and research test maintenance and measurement activities.
Operate and maintain farm tractors, mowers, sprayers, forklifts, ATVs, chain saws and other equipment used in orchard operations. Operate and work from aerial lift trucks during cone harvest, breeding, pollen collection and tree limb pruning operations for extended periods. Maintain records including but not limited to equipment maintenance, parts inventory, safety inspections, fuel records, and field activities. Ability to identify tree damage symptoms / pest species and perform all phases of pest control, including herbicide and insecticide applications. Conduct scion collection, grafting, bagging, control pollination and pollen collection. Install, maintain and measure field research projects. Wear personal protective equipment and maintain a safe working environment. Obtain and maintain a Commercial Drivers License and a Restricted Use Pesticide Applicators License if required.

This is heavy work exerting 40-100 pounds of force repeatedly.  Work may involve climbing, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting and grasping.  Worker is subject to inside and outside environment, noise, vibration, working hazards, fumes, odors, dust, wood smoke and chemicals.   Must pass a respirator test and wear a respirator while spraying pesticides and treating pine seed.  Visual acuity is required for equipment and vehicle operation; requires hearing sufficient to perceive noises for diagnostic purposes.
This is a non-exempt position. Seasonal overtime and weekend work required.  Little to no overnight travel.  90% of work is out of doors in all seasons and weather conditions, 10% record-keeping.

Orchard Specialist – Bellamy, FL

The primary responsibilities of the Orchard Specialist are to support the Orchard Supervisor and/or assume responsibility for day to day operations in all aspects of seed orchard management, seed production, seed processing, and seed storage and sowing preparation. Limited travel, some weekend work, and seasonal overtime may be required. Approximately 50% of workload is out of doors, all seasons.

  1. The ability to operate and maintain farm tractors and attachments for mowing, subsoiling, herbicide spraying, etc.
  2. Ability to operate a 5-function forklift for extended periods
  3. Ability to operate and work out of bucket trucks and/or self-propelled aerial lifts
  4. Ability to obtain and maintain a Commercial Drivers License and a Restricted Use Pesticide Applicators License;
  5. Minimal level of competency in trade skill areas (carpentry, welding, electrical, etc)
  6. The physical strength and stamina to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods such as chain / pole saw operation for tree felling and limb pruning, cone harvesting, and repeated lifting and movement of 50 pound boxes and/or bags of pine seed or pine cones.

Nursery Specialist – Bullard, TX

ArborGen’s Nursery in Bullard, TX has an open position for a Nursery Specialist. This facility produces 50+ million bareroot pine seedlings from seed annually. The Nursery Specialist is required to perform all the skilled operations at a SuperTree Nursery. He/she is responsible for production goals, product quality and minimizing nursery expenses. A specialist must be reliable, innovative, team-oriented and conscientious with a positive work ethic.

1. Operate, maintain, modify and calibrate farm tractors, agricultural equipment, conveyors, and strappers and other equipment used on the job.

2. Maintain records including but not limited to equipment maintenance, parts inventory, safety inspections, and fuel records.

3. Assist in the operation and maintenance of an automatic irrigation system including pump station, below ground main lines, above ground supply system, and digital controllers.

4. Weld and fabricate metal items.

5. Assist in all phases of weed control, including herbicide application, mechanical control and hand weeding.

6. Assist in all phases of crop nutrition including fertilization recommendations and applications.

7. Wear safety personal protective equipment, maintain facility, and maintain a safe working environment.

8. Supervise labor in various nursery operations.

9. Serve as a team member in group work improvement projects.

10. Work extended hours, weekends and holidays, outdoors in all types of weather conditions as required.

11. Participate in and complete required safety training.

12. Other duties and projects as assigned.

  • Experience in construction, welding, metal fabrication, and equipment maintenance.

Nursery Production Coordinator – Claxton, GA

ArborGen’s Bellville Nursery in Claxton, GA has an open position for a Nursery Production Coordinator.  The production coordinator will have responsibilities to oversee bare-root and container seedling crop production as well as serve as the facility safety coordinator.

  • Nursery crop management – maintain a precise schedule for soil preparation, sowing of seed, irrigation, fertilization, pesticide spraying, cultural practices and lifting of seedlings.
  • Maintain nursery crop records working with subordinates.
  • Monitor seedling crops for quality, growth, density, and pests.
  • Research – Assist research activities in conjunction with the Product Development group.
  • Administrative — Directly supervise seasonal temporary labor, manage a strong safety program, operational purchasing and record keeping.
