Staff Accountant-Corporate Office – Ridgeville, SC

The primary responsibilities of the Staff Accountant are to assist in daily management of the general accounting function, including accounts payable, month-end close, consolidated financial reports, balance sheet reconciliation, cost accounting and maintenance of fixed assets. This position will play a key role in the annual audit process and reports to the Corporate Controller.

  • Oversee accounts payable and expense reporting functions.
  • Participate in month end close.
  • Assist in preparing monthly financial reports of US and foreign operations.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Maintain fixed assets.
  • Assist in coordinating annual departmental budget preparation.
  • BS in accounting or finance.
  • Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Strong computer skills with Excel essential (pivot tables, vlookups).
  • Strong communication skills as will be involved in working with multiple locations and levels of management.
  • 2-3 years relevant work experience.

Department: Frequent interaction with others in the immediate work group.  Frequent interaction with Supervisor.

Company: Regular interaction with department supervisors at all locations.

Outside Company: Interact with vendors and auditors.

This is an exempt position.  Seasonal overtime required.

Nursery Production Coordinator – Bellville, Georgia

The production coordinator will have responsibilities to oversee bare-root and container seedling crop production as well as serve as the facility safety coordinator. 

  • Nursery crop management – maintain a precise schedule for soil preparation, sowing of seed, irrigation, fertilization, pesticide spraying, cultural practices, and lifting of seedlings.

  • Maintain nursery crop records working with subordinates.

  • Monitor seedling crops for quality, growth, density, and pests.

  • Research – Assist research activities in conjunction with the Product Development group.

  • Administrative — Directly supervise seasonal temporary labor, manage a strong safety program, operational purchasing and record-keeping.

Department: Daily interaction with direct reports.  Frequent interaction with peers in the immediate work group.  Regular interaction with peers in other groups within the department.  Frequent interaction with Supervisor.

Company: Regular interaction with peers in other groups across the company as related to common production targets.

Outside Company: Participation in outside conferences and industry meetings.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Forest Science or related agricultural/horticultural field and 2 years work experience in a forestry/agricultural/horticultural -related field.  Will consider Associate degree or HSD with 5-10 years experience in related field, nursery experience preferred.

  • Strong administrative and organizational skills supported by proficiency with spreadsheet and word processing software.

  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills.

  • Strong sense of financial and asset stewardship.

  • Valid driver’s license.

This is heavy work exerting 40-100 pounds of force repeatedly.  Work may involve climbing, stooping, crouching, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting and grasping.  Worker is subject to inside and outside environment, noise, vibration, working hazards, fumes, odors, dust, wood smoke and chemicals.  Visual acuity is required for equipment and vehicle operation; requires hearing sufficient to perceive noises for diagnostic purposes.

Key personal traits include good interpersonal and communication skills along with a strong work ethic and ability to manage a variety of tasks simultaneously.  This is an exempt position, with limited travel required.
