It’s Never Too Early to Plan for Next Year
I know what you are thinking – I just finished planting for this year! Why do I need to plan for next year now? Here at ArborGen, we begin planning for our sowing season even as you finish your planting. What type of seed and how much our nurseries plant to make sure you get what you need depends on you. They plan based on your plans.
At ArborGen, we meet with landowners and consultants about goals for the next planting season. Make sure you get exactly what you want, including the seedling genetics you need, by calling your ArborGen Reforestation Advisor.
Using their forestry expertise and access to the most advanced genetics in the forestry industry, they can review your plans to ensure you are getting what you need to get the results you expect. Ask for a demonstration of our proprietary Seedling Revenue Calculator to see how advanced genetics can improve your financial return.
Here are some essential questions to ask when considering your next seedling purchase.
Action Alert: H-2B Visas
FRA encourages you to contact your Representative and urge him/her to cosponsor the Returning Workers Exception Act (H.R. 3897).
This legislation would provide better access to H-2B visas and forestry workers who plant more than 85 percent of the acres each year in the United States. Demand for H-2B forestry workers has increased 30 percent in the last year.
If the legislatively mandated cap of 66,000 visas is not increased, it will become more difficult for employers to recruit necessary labor to meet tree planting demands and impact the Forest Service’s plan to ramp up reforestation. FRA is interested in working with the administration to find a long-term solution for tree-planters.
